Ancient Greece was a peninsula surrounded by three seas, The Mediterranean sea, The Aegean sea, and The Ionian sea. It's geography played an amazing and over looked role in their span over the many years. And their dimise. it's all very interesting, they were located near water which is a must-have for civilizations to develop because it can be used for farming, drinking water, and, the most obvious, Trade. Because of this, they were successful, at least almost all of them were.
Athens was very rich through trade, even in thier last days.
Thebes was moderate in trade, compared to Athens, but millionares to Sparta with little to no skills in having an army.
Sparta was very poor and uneducated, because they didn't want any uprisings or rebelions they didn't properly educate the children, and they're trade suffered from the fact they traded with iron bars.
To summerize, the geography of Greece played a major role in its life, and downfall.
